Review of Howl: A Graphic Novel
by Nadine O’Regan
December 2010
Gloomy, ghoulish and captivating, this graphic novel adaptation of Allen Ginsberg’s poem, "Howl," is the perfect Christmas present for the discerning hipster.
"I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness," Ginsberg writes—and on a facing page, you see a writer figure, hidden in the glooming, except for the set of spectacles lit up by the glow of the computer screen, and the tip of his cigarette burning.
Skeletons, desolate figures and blurred visions abound in this work; think of any one of the Matrix films and you’ll be halfway towards animation artist Eric Drooker’s beautifully realised vision.
